Joker

Arthur Fleck hätte allen Grund, sein Leben als Tragödie zu sehen: Gotham ist ein Sündenpfuhl, er muss seine kranke Mutter pflegen und sich mit Gelegenheitsjobs herumschlagen, obwohl er sich zu Größerem berufen fühlt - ein Komödiant will er sein. Doch die zahllosen Rückschläge zeigen Wirkung. Hinter dem naiven Lächeln wächst eine Wut, ein Zorn, der sich irgendwann seinen Weg nach draußen bahnen wird.

Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) is troubled man und struggles with life itself. A psychic tick makes him laugh uncontrollably whenever he is nervous. The clown actor secretly dreams of a career as a stand-up comedian. But he colossally fails a decisive performance and therefore ends up being the laughing stock of the whole city after a recording of the gig is broadcast on television.  When Arthur is also fired from his job, he finally loses it and sets off an avalanche of violence that can not be stopped: The Joker is born.
